Group Training

The group training sessions at pH.7 have been designed to help you learn and build the foundations of strength for your muscles, improve your joint mobility, challenge your cardiovascular system for heart health, and develop functional core strength – all while having fun in a friendly and motivating training environment.

THE GROUP FORMAT

The sessions incorporate a mixture of strength training and cardiovascular conditioning. They are 45 minutes in duration, often using both indoor and outdoor spaces at the pH.7 site on Bakers Lane.

Our coaches will be there with you throughout the sessions, both to ensure you are able to perform the exercises in a safe and effective way, and to keep the classes fun and high tempo.

WHO ARE THESE GROUP TRAINING SESSIONS FOR?

We have established a session format that allows coaches to adapt the workout to suit the needs of the client, whatever their fitness level.

We have welcomed complete beginners, regular gym goers, and weekend warrior athletes – all taking part in the same class and finding the level that is most appropriate for them.

A big part of our philosophy is to keep the gym a friendly and motivating place, where you can feel confident you are in safe hands and part of a community.

GROUP TRAINING INTRODUCTORY PACKAGE

Our 'Group Training Introductory Package' has been designed to give our clients a personal taster of what group training is all about at pH.7 before getting stuck into the sessions.

It starts off with a 75 minutes one on one session with one of the pH.7 coaching team, where we will take you through a small assessment process and introduce you to the key foundational movement patterns that make up the core of the workouts, as well as guiding you through some aerobic training styles that are programmed in the group training.  There will be time to explain the format of the group training, get you aclimatised to the training space, and take time to explain the common terminology you will hear whilst training, and of course answer any questions you may have. We will also provide you with a homework sheet of key exercises to practice before your first group session.

If you've never experienced group training before, or had a long hiatus from training and are a little nervous about jumping straight back in, this is for you.

Our 'Group Training Introductory Package' includes:

  • 1 X 75 minutes personal introductory workout with a pH.7 coach

  • Homework exercise sheet

  • 5 X Group Training classes

Cost: £200

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I START?

Before you take part in any group training at pH.7, you will need to fill out a "Pre-Activity Questionnaire" (PARQ).

This provides us with important information about you so that we can ensure it is safe for you to begin training. NB. For insurance purposes, nobody can begin training without first completing this form.

You can either complete the PARQ in person just before your first class, or *download the PDF form here* and bring it with you.

Apart from that, all you need to bring with you is a water bottle, a sweat towel, and a good attitude – with that, you're ready to go!

"I have been going to pH.7 for almost 2 years now. In my 20s, I was a competitive athlete and rower, competing at nationals’ championship levels in the USA. As such, I've worked with many coaches and trainers throughout my athletic career, and I can easily say that Nick and James are two of the best trainers I have worked with. They create programs that are tailored to the individual  they know the secret to maintaining a workout regime is having fun while doing it! I particularly love the group classes the workout is efficient and challenging and there is a real team environment amongst those who go. No pretension here  just get your trainers on and get a great workout!"

JON:

"I have absolutely loved the classes at pH.7... Since starting a few months ago, I am really seeing the results of a regular class. I think this is because the sessions are just the right balance of challenging and achievable, which keeps me coming back. The coaches help you push yourself during the session but always to just the right amount, which leaves me feeling great for the rest of the day and always looking forward to the next class. The coaching also feels very personal even in the group format, keeping a close eye on what equipment you need as well as your wellbeing throughout the session. And it's incredibly welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend it to anyone."
